Unfortunately Bev has not made it to Fiji.
Our first problem was a nasty storm which pushed us back into Port Macquarie, we tore our main and jib and our bilge came undone so Captain Bligh decided land was the best option.
When we arrived in Port Mac the bar was breaking 3 metres so the lovely Volunteer Rescue boat guided us over the bar, it was a very nice site to see. We had been smashed by over 55 knot winds, they called it a mini cyclone as it was the same storm cell the hit Lennox Head.
So off we go again, made it to Lord Howe is 2 days, it was a great sail and Lord Howe is just amazing.
The weather guys told us another storm was brewing and we should depart and head north until the storm ebates. We did just that, unfortunately we were coping NE winds that make it near impossible to sail to Fiji from Lord Howe, we decided to change course and head North, at one point I am sure we were going backwards, we did push on for a few days but were going nowhere, top speed 3knots, then the storm his again.......blew out the windex tore the jib again not as bad, the seas were arounf 4 metres, I didn't have a tape measure big enough to measure them.
Needless to say to put our tail between our legs and headed for a safe haven which was Runaway Bay, Southport Qld.
This is were Bev is at the moment we are heading up tomorrow to see her and get her ready for the auction on the 24th July.
Will let you know if she sells or if we are making another attempt for Fiji.
Standing By....
