Auction

Unfortunately Bev has not made it to Fiji.

Our first problem was a nasty storm which pushed us back into Port Macquarie, we tore our main and jib and our bilge came undone so Captain Bligh decided land was the best option.

When we arrived in Port Mac the bar was breaking 3 metres so the lovely Volunteer Rescue boat guided us over the bar, it was a very nice site to see. We had been smashed by over 55 knot winds, they called it a mini cyclone as it was the same storm cell the hit Lennox Head.

So off we go again, made it to Lord Howe is 2 days, it was a great sail and Lord Howe is just amazing.

The weather guys told us another storm was brewing and we should depart and head north until the storm ebates. We did just that, unfortunately we were coping NE winds that make it near impossible to sail to Fiji from Lord Howe, we decided to change course and head North, at one point I am sure we were going backwards, we did push on for a few days but were going nowhere, top speed 3knots, then the storm his again.......blew out the windex tore the jib again not as bad, the seas were arounf 4 metres, I didn't have a tape measure big enough to measure them.

Needless to say to put our tail between our legs and headed for a safe haven which was Runaway Bay, Southport Qld.

This is were Bev is at the moment we are heading up tomorrow to see her and get her ready for the auction on the 24th July.

Will let you know if she sells or if we are making another attempt for Fiji.

Food

I have been cooking all morning, have 2 chicken curries, 2 beef strogg and enough spag bog sauce to sink a ship.....not really but I have heaps. That should get us through the first few days if we don't all spew.
Will load up at the marina next week as they said we could moor for a couple of days.
Customs boys said they would come to us to do all the paperwork....they must be snowed under if they have time for all that.
Just need some fuel and the last minute stuff and we are good to go.

Giving Bev a once over

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=St0Xl19l_cc

Did a bit of a check today will go for a sail next weekend up to Palm Beach as a shake down run.
Everything seemed fine, will check fuel levels and the rest of the provisions will be onboard next week.
We hope to leave on the 29th May would appreciate the same farewell as Jessica Watson even though our boat isn't pink it does look like it in the video.
Bought a little tender this morning so didn't need to swim out to the boat which I was very happy about.

Moving Home

Bev is moving from lovely Davis marina to an even more lovely location, but we are going to have to get the dingy out its a floating mooring, makes life a little more interesting, might have to have a test run over Easter as well just to make sure everything is ship shape.
Provisioning will be great from a dingy.....can't wait for that one.

Planning Stages

Now this is the way to start a crossing.
Beverly Ann will be heading back to Fiji in May with Dave and Rhonda and hopefully 2 more crew, looking for anyone that has sea legs and can put up with Captian Bligh....aka Dave.
We are heading back to do a total refurbish of the boat as she really needs it as most of you would know.
This time I will take 2 cameras so that all of our trip will be documented.....not that much happens but will be on the spot with the camera at all times.
I am really looking forward to heading out to sea again.
